November is Native American Heritage Month. Ditch Black Friday and join SymbiOp Garden Shop, a worker-owned ecological garden shop, to fundraise for the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA) on Nov 26. 10% of the total sales will be donated to NAYA. SymbiOp is the largest eco gift shop and eco plant shop in Portland. Come do your holiday shopping and support an awesome local nonprofit at the same time! Please share this event and invite your friends!
For forty years, NAYA has worked to enrich the lives of our Native youth and families. They offer a holistic set of wraparound services designed to create stability in the lives of our youth and families. They provide educational services, cultural arts programming, and direct support to reduce poverty to the Portland Metropolitan Area Native American community.
The Relational Worldview Model is the fundamental lens and perspective through which NAYA provides all of its programs and services to individuals, families, and the community. It is derived from the concept of balance and holistic thought process of Native people as the basis for health. Life is made up of the four elements of existence—mind, body, spirit, and social context. Visually, this concept is shown as a circle with four quadrants. NAYA has adopted the view that individuals can be assessed and treated most effectively when all the elements of their life are considered.
