Tranquil Bird and Butterfly Sanctuary Garden in Ardenwald – Phase One

For this client, we started to implement a bird and butterfly habitat garden. The goal was to create a tranquil sanctuary not just for the animals but also for the humans, so we had to strike a dynamic balance between order and disorder.

For Phase One, planted Native Bunch Grasses, Yarrow, Oregon Stonecrop, Lupine, Butterfly Weed, Kinnikinnick, Checker Mallow, Broad-leaved Penstemon, California Fuchsia, etc. We also arranged a few cute furnitures and walkways to complete the theme. Some of the plants are hard to see in the photos, because they are still saplings. By this time next year, this yard will be a lot more filled out and lush.

  1. Native Ecoscape is of interest to us. We have a pretty good-sized yard that could perhaps transition to a bird and butterfly habitat garden.
